Spaghetti Integration vs Italian Middleware
Presented ObjectWeb's rationale to contribute to the development of business ecosystems at LinuxWorld Milan (Italy) today. Also met with representatives from Engineering, one of the leading IT companies in Italy, which is just joining ObjectWeb.
"Engineering considers contributing two of its existing projects to the consortium’s code base: Spago and SpagoBI, an infrastructure solution for building Business Intelligence systems."
Funambol, a member of the consortium for over 1 year now, also has strong connections with Milan. Part of the development team is located in Lombardy. They actively develop ObjectWeb Sync4j project, one of the top downloads of the consortium. As Fabrizio Capobianco (Funambol CEO) put it: "Sync4j is the biggest thing that Italy has produced in software since Olivetti..." Milan appears very active in OSS.
